Love beats every instinct a person naturally has to be themselves

This is an extract of a question I had to answer for English class (again). I apologize for my recent blogs only being about stuff i wrote in english but i haven’t had time to write a lot because of school, english class is my only time. The assignment was to choose a theme from a movie and give examples as well as explain yourself. I picked one of my favourite movies: Pride and Prejudice (2005). It is a complex romance movie based on the book by Jane Austen, published in the beginning of the 1800s. The theme I chose to explore was love, more specifically how love changes a person.

In this movie, there is a scene where Elizabeth Bennet, the woman protagonist, is walking into a carriage to go back home after visiting her friend's house, where her sick sister was staying. Mr Darcy, her love interest, grabs her hand to help her up the stairs of the vehicle. While he walks away, there is a shot of his hand clenching after being untangled from Elizabeth’s own.

Another example of the effects of love on someone happened in the beginning of the movie. While walking though the first ball of the season, Mr Darcy who is admired by everyone at the party looks straight ahead as he walks. He does not think anyone is interesting and lets his pride take over as he looks around. Though while passing by Elizabeth for the first time ever, he does a double take and looks at her. She was the first person he looked at at the ball. Disappointed in himself he was for being interested in a girl like her, his egotistical self tried very hard to suppress his sentiments. Though it was just a glance, Mr Darcy was captivated by Elizabeth from this moment on.

Overall, Pride and Prejudice shows that love can be demonstrated in all types of different ways. Whether you are trying to hide it or not, a person in love can be seen from a mile away. Mr Darcy was captivated by Elizabeth Bennet the first time he saw her, though his pride and ego didn't want to acknowledge it yet. His body and mind subconsciously tried to be a better man for her, by giving her attention he didn't give anyone. He tried to hide it but the clenching of his body at the simple touch of her hand let the viewers know that he was indeed in love with her. His pride and prejudices against poorer women didn't have any chances against his undeniable love for Elizabeth. And that is exactly how love changes someone, it affects the way they act and is more powerful than their natural instinct themselves.
